International artist Cie. Philippe Saire has developed Black Out, a performance which crosses dance and visual art, to be performed at Pavilion Dance South West on Wednesday 8th November 6pm & 8pm. The usual 180 seat theatre in Bournemouth will be transformed into a set that allows audiences to watch from a birds-eye-view, with the performers far below. The visuals in this rare opportunity emphasises the transition from light to darkness as black matter floods the space allowing dark images to reflect our world.
A scene, from above: three dancers and three towels lying in a neat, white square, almost like a beach. But then their world is transformed by black sand raining down and we watch as the floor turns into a canvas and the dancers’ bodies into paint brushes. Black Out is a work in progress, displaying dark and disturbing images that touch the intimate sphere and the shadowy part in each of us.
Black Out is supported by Ville de Lausanne, Canton de Vaud, Pro Helvetia – Fondation suisse pour la culture, Loterie Romande, Fondation de Famille Sandoz, Corodis, Pour-cent culturel Migros, La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club New York.
