One of Alfred Hitchcock’s finest early films recently restored by the British Film Institute is being screened at Pavilion Dance accompanied by a live performance from Kokoro, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s music ensemble. Kokoro will perform the acclaimed Jonathan Lloyd commissioned score, conducted by Mark Forkgen.
In his seminal thriller Blackmail, Hitchcock portrays a rich evocation of London Life. A highpoint in his early career, Hitchcock would later revisit and surpass the knife murder in Blackmail with those scenes featured in both The 39 Steps (1935) and, most famously, Psycho (1960).
This performance is co-presented with White Lantern Film as part of the Short Sounds Film Festival.
There will be a post-show talk immediately following the performance in the foyer.
