Over the last few years, London based klezmer/Balkan beats/gypsy jazz bohemians Tantz have taken the UK roots music scene by storm with their full-on musical attack on audiences across the length and breadth of this nation. With an energy not seen since punk rock’s halcyon days and an ability to turn a gentle festival crowd into a heaving, po-going mosh-pit, there’s something special about this band that manages to touch almost everyone who hears and sees them live, no matter what music they’re into.
They describe their sound “frenzied hyper klezmer”, which gives you an idea but doesn’t even come close. BBC Radio Leeds Introducing presenter Alan Raw did a better job saying “prepare to dance till it nearly does you in.” Catch them performing on the iconic Bandstand in Bournemouth’s beautiful Lower Gardens on opening day.
