The Odd Beats

Sounds by the Sea: The Odd Beats

Billing themselves as purveyors of ‘Turkish Turbo Folk’, The Odd Beats is a truly multinational hip-shimmying outfit, with a sound from far-away lands. This blend of Turkish folk and irresistible Balkan dance beats comes with sinuous hints of Greek Rebetiko, amongst other tasty world music flavours.

Singer Dila V’s powerful vocals and endless energy shines through, while Fati Ebrem’s intricate guitar playing style mesmerises those who experience The Odd Beats. Their music is embellished with eastern percussions and powerful ethnic rhythms are as infectious as they are exotic.

Their first EP, Black Sea Psychedelia (Cayelinden Oteye) was released in November 2015. With storming appearances at Glastonbury Festival on the Shangri-La Hell Stage, Bestival, Secret Garden Party, Wilderness and a host of other UK appearances, Dila and her Odd Beats are fast securing themselves a reputation as a not-to-be-missed live act.
