Selfie – Portraits Through The Ages – An Exhibition

Will Hargreaves, award-winning artist and Course Leader for Performance Design at Arts University Bournemouth, exhibits his playful project reinventing historic self-portraits.

Using everyday domestic objects—potato mashers, Belgian buns, Christmas baubles, toilet seats—Will transforms the familiar into the theatrical. Each image is a tiny performance, merging homage and humour, precision and parody. What began during the 2020 lockdowns as a creative response to isolation has grown into a richly researched exploration of art history grounded in a study of the original artist, their techniques and how they chose to depict themselves
