Transforming Bournemouth’s beautiful outdoor spaces with an accessible and intriguing mix of art across many forms for all ages to enjoy.

Bournemouth’s annual celebration of arts and culture, Arts by the Sea Festival, is thrilled to announce the dates and theme for its 2023 edition. Returning to Bournemouth’s beautiful beaches, gardens and outdoor spaces from Friday 29th September to Sunday 1st October, festival organisers have revealed ‘MOMENT’ as its annual theme. While the full programme is yet to be announced, the concept of ‘MOMENT’ will be woven into the exciting and intriguing mix of large-scale spectaculars, music, film, art and dance on offer at Arts by the Sea, as guests are invited to take a moment, be present, and notice the world around them.

Attracting 120,000 people of all ages to Bournemouth each year, Arts by the Sea is a festival of discovery where around every corner, audiences can witness and participate in a unique carnivalesque celebration of accessible art across many forms.

Arts by the Sea’s Artistic Director Tor Byrnes said, “This year we’re really inviting every participant to find their own unique piece of joy, stillness, flow or movement in their own MOMENT. It’s up to you whether you share that, keep it as a personal present or connect with others as a collective experience.”

For 2023, festival goers can relax from the busyness of modern-day life and be transported into a world where over 100 local and national artists, performers and musicians will use the power of creativity to ensure every single person connects to their own unique moment.

Whether witnessing a dancer performing gravity defying tricks, learning a new skill, losing oneself on the dancefloor, or quite simply feeling the sand beneath your feet and taking a deep breath in nature, there will be many stand out moments to embrace and take away as sacred memories.

Arts by the Sea 2023 is set to be another exhilarating year of art and culture offering depth, insight and excitement. In a lifetime of experiences, it’s the MOMENTS that stand out. Those wanting to create some of their own should make a trip to this year’s Arts by the Sea.
