Arts by the Sea Festival offers an inspirational, accessible and diverse annual event, growing the profile of the arts in Bournemouth and increasing the range of audiences across the BCP Conurbation: continually striving to enhance a sense of community through an inclusive celebration of art, culture, people and place.
ABS footfall has been steadily increasing year on year, culminating in over 130,000 attendees during the 2019 festival weekend. Based on current growth rates and popularity, this audience is set to increase significantly to over 140,000 on the 2020 Festival weekend. The ABS Facebook page likes have reached 11,785 and has 12,445 followers!
2019 saw an increase in digital and outdoor work in order to cement the Festival’s identity as one primarily focused on free, outdoor arts, bringing in footfall through the Town Centre and greatly benefiting local businesses. Aligning with the BCP Council’s ambitions for the conurbation to become a national cultural destination, ABS is increasing the range and quality of its cultural offer, attracting and retaining creative talent into the local economy as well as visitors and tourists who enjoy the area as a destination. Now in planning for its tenth year, the Festival looks to continue the annual celebration by providing a visual feast of inspirational and engaging experiences focused around the 2020 theme “Journey”.
The ABS festival is funded by Arts Council England and BCP Council: we are also delighted to have retained Arts Council England’s National Portfolio Organisation status, securing funding until 2021. We aim to keep the festival’s events free wherever possible and provide opportunities for everyone to experience and be inspired by the arts. We work hard to make a little go a long way, but through sponsorship and strategic partnerships we can continue to deliver the spectacular and intriguing series of events which drives its success.
ABS is actively looking for opportunities to work with key partners and businesses. Increased web traffic, social engagement and followers, means ABS platforms and printed collateral can be utilised to deliver further value for a greater number of partners. We welcome approaches from all organisations or individuals and can develop a tailor-made-opportunities to achieve your goals and strategic objectives
With your support we look forward to continuing to showcase cultural talent, enhancing a sense of community and putting Bournemouth on the map as a diverse and exciting place to live, work and visit.
